Samuel Whitbread serves the rural communities around the small market town of Shefford in Mid-Bedfordshire. As well as a popular and expanding comprehensive school with Specialist Engineering Status, it contains a nursery school and facilities for adult education.

Term begins for most students on Thursday 2nd September and for the

new Year 12 on Monday 6th September


Staff training days update:
1st July 2011 will not now be a staff training day. Apologies for any inconvenience.

6th form exam results: If you were unable to pick up your results on the day, you can still pick them up from the Exams Office from September 2nd onwards.  Please do not hesitate to contact any of the 6th form team for help and advice.

Behaviour is good and students often reveal a good willingness to learn. (OfSTED report 2010) Underlying these improvements is a strong ethos which values students and is concerned to help them both academically and in their personal development. (OfSTED report 2010) The sixth form provides a good transition from school life to work or further and higher education because of the independence it encourages in students (OfSTED report 2010) [Students] are well aware of the importance of healthy lifestyles and an impressive proportion adds to the recommended two hours of physical education they receive by taking part in extra-curricular sporting activities. (OfSTED report 2010). The curriculum provides a wide range of experiences and opportunities and caters well for the diverse interests and abilities of students. (OfSTED report 2010). Teachers know their subjects well and their relationships with students are good. (OfSTED report 2010). The questionnaires from both parents and students indicate that students’ enjoyment of school is good.(OfSTED report 2010). There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities, as well as enrichment activities provided during the school day. (OfSTED report 2010). [Students] are well supported in the period when they are joining the school from their middle schools.(OfSTED report 2010). There is now a good range of subjects available of both academic and vocational types. (OfSTED report 2010).
